Project 365 week five!

Wow I can't believe I'm still plugging along with Project 365/Life.
I knew this would be a stress free project for me because I take photos everyday anyway.
Project 365 just pushes me to go out and do more unusual stuff so I can put it in the book.
Normally I'd go to the Museum of Natural History but I would wait till summer- which is silly because it's INDOORS.
Project Life/365 week 5. A walk in the Bronx, Lola is sick, We are bored so we go visit the Brooklyn Bridge, Museum of Natural History butterfly pavilion and Lola finally starts sitting at her mini desk to draw.
Lola LOVED her visit last week. She can't stop talking about the butterflies and now she sees them everywhere. We are going again tomorrow before they go away forever. Dave got her a dinosaur video he found for 4 bucks and now she loves dinosaurs too.
Could we have an future scientist on our hands?
FINGERS CROSSED!
There are enough "starving artists" in this family.
At the doctor's office.
We didn't buy it, we just love it.
No more words today. :)
My Mom works for MNH. It's so huge I practically grew up there and STILL
notice things for the first time. Above? A Pterodactyl.
We went to First Saturday over the The Brooklyn Museum.  It's free.
Everything was great until we visited the feminist art gallery-
there was a special exhibit on "gender and sexuality".  I LOVED IT!
My Mother in Law was not pleased.

It was a good day

November 14 was a great day! The sun was shinning, Dave had the day off and we had access to a car. So we went to D.U.M.B.O for lunch. That's short for Down Under The Manhattan bridge- yes I laughed when I first heard it too. We had sushi rolls, Jacques Torres chocolate chip cookies (best in the world!!!) and visited our favorite park which has totally changed. There are bike lanes, lots of new walking spaces and a huge baby playground. Lola finally had fun in a swing- usually she screams her head off.  I recommend you head over- take the F train over the bridge and bring your walking shoes- the view is AMAZING- you can see Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the downtown skyline all at once. Plus there's this fantastic pizza place that only sells pies- just the kind of encouragement I need. :)

This page is for a Punky Scraps challenge.
Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Materials: Am Crafts Vanilla cardstock, DCWV Downtown Loft- bridge and turquoise NYC map papers,  Sassafras Lass skull and hearts paper and brown numbers paper, Swell woodgrain tape, NYC Subway Map tape from Etsy,  Hambly screen prints overlay textures- pink, Martha Stewart blue stars tape,  Maquee plastic letters- red,  Uniball gel pen- black and white, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Expresso Bean (border)

I really like this challenge site and it's not too frilly style. I love me some flowers and lace but I seem to be moving away from them these days. I also want to shout out DCWV for the GORGEOUS Downtown Loft pad- it's so urban MOD. It's got woodgrain, lots of green, brown and turquoise and YUMM-O NYC maps. LOOVE the urban vibe!!! Funny- I either LOVE the heck out of DCWV paper or really really hate it.

I also recommend to those who like their art messy- go get you some Tattered Angles Glimmer Glam. I got 8 colors from a great lady named Darla Charles who was selling them for a discount on the boards at 2Peas. I plan to make a HUGE mess with them soon.

A moment of quiet.

2 for Tuesday!

Now that I'm finally done with the holiday theme I feel free as a bird. Looking at the 4 pieces together I see improvement with each piece. In my desperation I was pulling major paper maromas- (stunts).
Now I just have to think about Christmas cards. Home made or store bought? It's late but I could send out "3 King's Day" cards to insert some Latin Flava on this mo fo. Ahem... Told ya I was feeling FREE.
Anyway I titled this post 2 for tuesday because I managed to put together 2 pages!
I know, right??!!!
I'm also keeping a third page under wraps for a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT on wednesday the 15th so please tune in then.

Here's today's First page:
Street Art, Meatpacking District- NYC. 10/10/10
This is for this week's challenge over at the studio Calico blog. SC is my new FAVE brand. I just love their hipster vibe- it's so Willieburg, BK! I saw this "distressed" poster on a wall on our way to Highline Park and I took a million shots. It just screams Feminine Mystique. Someone call Betty Friedan! We have her re-release cover! The SC challenge called for 1 or 2 elements not including card stock. Did I cheat by using 2 photos? Didn't want to mess things up with some pseudo feminist tripe (my writing)- let the art speak for itself I say!

Second page:

Brooklyn Bagel under the Brooklyn Bridge- We got MAD BROOKLYN, YO!

Materials used: Basic Grey- Basics Tally paper, Smooch spritz- red, Tattered Angels Mist- Suede, Sassafrass Lass alphas, Large Hessian print buttons from The Chip Chop Shop, bagel die cut from PapaDesign, Maya Road clear doily, and a cut up Shop Williamsburg post card.

Making this page was SO MUCH FUN!!!! Taking Lola for her first trip to DUMBO was just as awesome- we can't wait for summer!! There's an amazing new playground there AND a bike path that takes you past lower Manhattan, past The Statue of Liberty and into Red Hook where you can shop Ikea and eat authentic Pupusas at Red Hook Park. I can't say this enough- I MISS SUMMER!!!!
Mash up! 80's  Olivia Newton John
and Christmas Elf.
