Welcome to Nat Kalbach's Stand Up Bass stencil blog hop!
Nat Kalbach designed a series of really fantastic stencils for Stencil Girl Products and asked some friends to help spread the word.
I am so lucky to be included in this group!
Here's the blog line up:
Wowwy wow wow right?
AND most awesome?
There's a give away!
Post a comment in each blog. Each comment is chance to win for a total of 5 chances.
NO you don't have to be nice- at least not to me- tell me how you really feel- I'm cool with that.
The drawing will be August 27th at midnight. Good luck!
If you joined last week's typewriter hop you know that I'm a scrapbooker and former New Yorker now trying to survive the suburban jungle that is Salt Lake City. (lol)
I read a good quote this morning: if you have time to complain you have time to do something about it.
"SO THERE!" Said my brain to my ego.
My page for this hop has everything to do with the self induced stress moving has caused.
I thought I loved change but apparently that's only so when I get to choose what the change is. (and as "change" means staying in Brooklyn- like moving to North 6th street)
A great opportunity landed on my husband's lap and he's happy- so no more complaining!
ACK! The loss of real pizza... and the subway... and The Brooklyn Botanical Garden.. (WAH!!!)
I also made an art journal entry.
I'm NOT great at art journaling.
Entries never make this blog because they look like Kindergarten projects.
Actually I've seen plenty of pre-school projects that look better than what I do in my "journal".
I enlisted help from an expert:
Mom let me play with her washi tape! WHOOP! WHOOP! Naturally I moved some of the paint off but it was her idea to use the green and silver tape.. and to spill water all over the place. |
I was throwing the left over bits of paper in the garbage when it struck me that they looked sort of like Picasso collage bits- if he went in for pink and cute. I also used Nat's What's The Point stencil. I changed my scrap page after doing this. I added the yellow paint to the background and like it much more now. |
Have a great week!
Michelle

ReplyDeleteLove the layout and the pic - how cute! Your art journal page is perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat layout and art journal page! Looks like you had lots of fun (and help!) doing it :) Love how you are all doing such different things with Natalie's stencil.
ReplyDeleteBoth your scrapbook and journal page are great. In fact I love your journal page. If you can't play there where can you play and recapture your child self? Thank you for sharing your story too. I too lived in NY/NJ and then moved to Texas! Talk about culture shock! But, I have grown and found my art self again here and love it now even though not everything. Enjoy your new home.
ReplyDeleteIsn't art journal all about oneself? Love the loose feeling of your page.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words on my blog. I'm happy to hop with you
Love all of it. I'm from the Pacific NW and lived in NJ for two years. Culture shock for me too!!! Will your helper have her own blog soon?
ReplyDeleteI love your layout!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like someone had a lot of fun!!
Love the LO as well as your art journal page! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBoth pages are fun. Like the pastel bass cutouts. NY to SLC, now that is a change.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have some help!
ReplyDeleteGreat pages
Awesome page! I love the patterned paper basses! I love patterned paper and I'm not quite sure why I don't use it more with stencils. Clearly the end result is fantastic! I love that you also shared the piece your daughter helped you create! I recently let my daughters play with Gelatos and they had a blast. =) Thanks for sharing your work! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me that leftovers are brilliant to use too. Great share.
ReplyDeleteLove your light and airy look! Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI really like them both...good use of the stencil
ReplyDeleteI love both uses of the stencil here! Your art journal page is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI too had to leave NYC for a husband's job and I completely understand. Hang in there.
Love that LO and it sure shows me the music behind the title.
ReplyDeleteLove your use of the stencil!!
ReplyDeleteSo very cool! I would never have known what to do with that stencil, you did a rockin' good job!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I like what you did with the basses. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteLove the multiple use of the stencil in different colours.
ReplyDeleteLove the cellos on that layout - and who doesn't love The Temptations? And I was singing aloud in the car (by my lonesome) yesterday with the Jackson 5! I need to do a layout about some of my musical tastes, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteReally liked ur art journal page too. Journaling is abt what comes to d mind first, not restricting urself to necessarily create a piece of art. It's my way of processing whatev is happening in my life - good, bad n ugly. Good luck
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbook page is fabulous and the adorable mastermind behind the art journal spread is adorable and talented!
ReplyDeleteFabulous page. Just so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove what you've done in both pages! How lucky to have such a talented assistant! As a former Brooklyn girl, I know what you gave up. Hopefully the clean air and beautiful mountain views in SLC are compensating! Have you seen Book of Morman?
ReplyDeletelove your artwork, everyones art with this stencil is so happy, says alot about music! aloha, angi
