Heart on my sleeve- a Scrap FX page for Die Scrapperin Magazine

Hi there!

I made this page for the August 2012 issue of German art scrap magazine, Die Scrapperin.

I got creative with the  "graffiti" theme because attempts to make actual graffiti on a page failed miserably- an inability to draft letters and draw are some of the reasons I got into scrapbooking after all.

I'm really drawn to artists who add hand-made lettering and paint to their pages so I decided to cheat a little on my first try.

Here is the result:
I wish I had access to that concrete background more often- it's a bench in out favorite restaurant.
I used Scrap FX chicken wire and a Flair For Buttons triangle and Project Life badges on this page.
The clear letter stickers are from Cosmo Cricket- I love them!
For this page I tried out color dipping which was a trend at the time- not sure if people are still dipping their table and chair legs into gold or neon paint but I really liked the look.

The photos are of some stenciled posters which were everywhere in my neighborhood last summer.
Most of the empty lots where I live have now disappeared- walls that used to display colorful posters and graffiti are gone.

I'm sure most people welcome the change.
Most of what went up was scrawled names and badly rendered drawings of naked women anyway.
But occasionally something went up that made me stop and stare like I was in a museum.
I'll miss those moments.
The spotless and impersonal building lobbies that have replaced the walls have no art or style at all.
One of the last empty walls in my neighborhood.
Good thing? Maybe
I tend to think life is more fun with some color in it.
A friend posted this on her facebook the other day.
It really made me stop and think.
I berate my abilities and worry about my "next step" too much.

Loving the NEON! (again)

Good sunday morning!
I've been scrapbooking like crazy lately but it's all under publishing embargo so no posts lately.
EEK!
Here's one page I can show you since it's on the Die Scrapperin Magazine promo link HERE and up for public online consumption:
Materials: American Crafts Amy Tangerine paper, Thickers and fabric stickers, Scrap FX dingbat chipboard, Maya Road wood veneer butterflies, Prima roses, Hambly transparency banners, American Crafts glitter brads, doilies from Etsy. Fancy Pants pinked edge coffee filter.
It took me 45 minutes to make this page and I FORCED myself to use those GORGEOUS neon colored doiles.
Some detail shots:
Lola and I chased lady bugs this summer- it was awesome.
Tiny Scrap FX ding bat and the AWESOME
Maya Road veneer butterflies- love them both!
I wish this stamp was part of the American Crafts
Amy Tangerine set- it's so PRETTY!
Happy Sunday!
Good luck to all of you who applied to the Jenni Bowlin Ambassador DT.
The opportunity was too exciting to pass up.
I love Jenni Bowlin products to distraction so I looked at the requirements and double checked my schedule and thought:
Yes I can DO THAT!
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Detail from one of the pages I submitted for consideration.
Good luck everyone!

Scrap FX chipboard and vellum goodness

Hello scrap happy folks!
Today I want to share another vellum punches page.
This one uses Scrap FX chipboard.

I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to use this month's farm themed Scrap FX designs but then I realized- just because I'm a city girl doesn't mean I don't occasionally hang with farm animals!

Case in Point:
A visit to Jane's Carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park! Scrap FX Rope Rings- (model number 2012090) and horse with flowers from the Horses set ( model number 2012087) and Funky Alphabet letters (model number 2010286). I've also used red grid tape from Gauche Alchemy, American Crafts Amy Tangerine sketchbook paper, Cosmo Cricket mini alphabets, Dear Lizzy clouds vellum and clear punchinella from Gauche Alchemy. The circles were punched with Fiskars Squeeze punches in XL, L and M
I also did some research- did you know Queens has a Farm Museum?
It's the oldest continuously working farm in the state! AWESOME!
We've decided to visit later this month- you'll see photos soon!

Some detail shots:
The rides on the carousel cost 2 dollars- I think the tickets are so pretty
they are worth the price all on their own! Love the rope circles design of the
Scrap FX frames- it's western themed but I think these can be used anywhere.
I wish Cosmo Cricket made more of these clear Tiny Type alphas!
They are so versatile! I've tried to get my handwriting to look this whimsical- all I get is messy writing.
Also- there's a carousel horse design in the Scrap FX catalog and it's beautiful! (This one is model 2011135)
Sorry I missed you little guy- next time!
I have many carousel photos to scrap.
GRATUITOUS CUTE TODDLER SHOT:
Apparently when I'm not the one holding the camera my daughter poses for people.
Here she is at the Bronx Zoo. No I didn't take this shot. I NEVER get the diva pose.
OH! I have some scrap happy news!!!
I'm guest designing for Die Scrapperin- THE German art scrap magazine in August!

I'll be sharing space with art scrappers Muumka and Anna Maria Wolniak.
(Just to name a few- there are 5 other HUGE names- tune in to our Blog Hop in July!)
TOTAL SCRAP NERD NIRVANA!!!!
I'll try very hard to be worthy of such an honor- thanks Janna and Felicitas!
